Stefanie S. Hope wasn’t my real name; it had been the name I’d used for my newspaper column entitled “Married? Dial 911”. The headline was supposed to be funny, but instead it attracted river rats and sex-starved 40-somethings who thought I wanted to date them. My column was kind of like a “Dear Abby” aimed at 30- to 50-year-olds frustrated with their marriages and looking for some help, or at least guidance on where to go for more. And so I helped them. Of course, while I was doing that my own happy home was on fire, but they didn’t need to know that.
